Meet the Teachers

Damon Weston was raised in Downeast Maine and attended local schools. He received a B.A. in Politics from Oberlin College in 2001, where he helped found the Oberlin College Dialogue Center. After college, he moved home and taught math and social studies in Eastport for 14 years. A Wilderness First Responder, USA Sailing certified instructor, and certified Maine 7-12 math and social studies teacher, Damon is also a mean pickle ball player and active in local theater, passions he brings to the classroom. Maria McMorrow’s journey at Cobscook started in 2012 when, as a fellow at Downeast Salmon Federation, she co-founded River Camp. Over the past decade she has been a regular at Cobscook as an expedition co-leader. Maria is a certified EMT, Registered Maine Guide (Recreation & White Water) and has Maine 7-12 Teaching Certification in life science and Spanish. In recent years Maria has lead the snowboard lesson program at Sugarloaf Mountain and worked guiding canoe trips in spring, summer and fall. Read more or contact

Kara McCrimmon is passionate about experiential, place-based, and relational teaching and learning, and helped create the Cobscook Experiential Program. She holds a BS in geology, an MS in Environmental Education, and Maine 7-12 certification in physical science and social studies. A Registered Maine Guide, Wilderness First Responder, and certified American Canoe Association instructor, she’s also an active classical and folk musician and performs regularly in Downeast Maine.
