Position Summary 

The On-Call Custodial Assistant provides custodial support when extra help is needed here at Cobscook. Help is often needed for campus and lodge turnovers during busy times, to fill in for the custodial staff, and to support hosting large groups. While extra help is needed throughout the year, spring and summer are our busiest seasons. Specific tasks will vary and will be determined by the Custodial Coordinator who will supervise this position.

Key Accountabilities: 

Custodial Work– responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a neat, clean, and sanitary campus with attention to detail 

  • Sweep and mop floors. 

  • Vacuum carpeted areas

  • Clean entryways (inside and outside)

  • Dust furniture and fixtures

  • Empty wastebaskets and garbage cans

  • Clean, wash and disinfect restrooms

  • Clean, wash, and sanitize the kitchen, dining room, and food service areas.

  • Repair and/or report minor maintenance needs

  • Clean, fold, put away laundry 

  • Make beds and prepare lodge rooms for guests 

  • Inform Custodial coordinator of re-stocking (purchase) supply needs well in advance.

  • Maintain regular and timely communication with Custodial Coordinator

Guest hosting responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting catering service

  • Set up prior to events

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Engage professionally and courteously with staff, program participants, and guests.

  • Capacity to work independently and as a strong team player. 

  • Capacity to communicate with supervisor in a timely manner regarding scheduling and tasks.

  • Possess good judgment with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

  • Possess basic understanding of custodial practices and procedures.

  • Ability to identify and prioritize what needs to be done to maintain a healthy, clean office and community environment. Ability to be adaptable and flexible as tasks and responsibilities will vary.

  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule as needed.

  • Ability to stand, bend and lift heavy supply boxes and put products on shelves.

  • Must have organizational skills, the ability to multitask, be self-motivated, and able to work independently to manage time and meet deadlines. 

Position Type: On-Call Part-time. Ideal candidate will be available to work a changing schedule.

Compensation: $15.00+ per hour depending on experience and qualifications.  Paid-time off and free admission to all Cobscook programs included.
