Jan joined the CCLC in July of 2017 as Finance Associate believing that she would be working in a community spirited workplace. The staff at CCLC has made that belief a fact.
Jan grew up in Pembroke and never felt the need or desire to live anywhere else. She’s always felt that Washington County is a great place to live and to raise children. She has been a business owner and has worked in local schools for a number of years. She’s also been an advocate for victims of crime while working with the District Attorney in Calais. Jan is a LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and has provided counseling to clients who were participants in Washington County’s Drug Court. Over the course of her career as the Victim-Witness Advocate and later as a drug counselor she has been able to see how life’s experiences can affect a person’s decision making. The greatest thing that she’s learned from her clients is that they simply “needed a good listening to”. Empathic listening is key to effective communication.
Jan has a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from UMM. She’s worked in both for profit businesses, as well as for a non-profit agency.
Jan likes to renovate and decorate houses in her spare time. It gives her a great sense of accomplishment to bring back a room or home to its former beauty. She has a son and daughter who have given her six wonderful grandchildren, all of whom live in the area except her oldest grandson who is serving in the U.S. Air Force. Family is the core of her life and now she has an extended family at the CCLC.
