Assistant Maintenance and Groundskeeper

Position Summary

The Assistant Maintenance and Groundskeeper is responsible for keeping the campus and facilities beautiful and functional inside and out. Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Maintenance and Groundskeeper, this person will help maintain the grounds and buildings, repair and maintain equipment and facilities, and perform light construction when necessary.


Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Mowing, weeding and lawn maintenance

  • Management of trash and recyclables.

  • Occasional sweeping, mopping and light housekeeping as necessary.

  • Keeping campus free of litter.

  • Occasionally replenishing/replacing and maintaining inventory of consumables such as paper towels, soaps, light bulbs, cleaning supplies etc.

  • Snow management: Shoveling, snow-blowing, salting, etc.

  • Organizing and maintaining storage spaces and utility sheds.

  • Maintenance and light repair of equipment such as lawn mowers, snow-blowers, weed-whackers, etc.

  • Light construction and repair e.g. building or installing shelves, repairing doors, etc.

  • Clean and maintain CCLC vehicles and check fluids.

  • Monitor and fire wood boilers when necessary.

  • Maintain and stack firewood inventory.

 Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned with a sense of humor and team spirit.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have a keen eye for detail.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Must be flexible and able to take instruction.

  • Be motivated and a self-starter.

  • Conscientious and reliable.

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Light construction and maintenance skills are essential.

  • Basic mechanical skills.

  • More advanced carpentry and mechanical skills a plus.

Position type: Part-time (20 hrs per week), hourly wage.
