Bill Schlesinger, retired from faculty and administrative positions in the earth sciences at Duke University, moved to Lubec in 2014 with his wife, Lisa Dellwo. They have built an energy-efficient home in North Lubec, where their acres of meadows, forest, and shoreline play host to many species of birds, butterflies, and wildflowers. They are avid birdwatchers in the local area. Bill serves on the Board of Downeast Coastal Conservancy. Lisa is a freelance writer specializing in nature, environment, and foodways, working primarily for academic and nonprofit organizations and also for consumer publications. She is also an avid nature photographer and gardener.
