Lesley University in Partnership
with CCLC
Cambridge, MA -- Lesley University,
a leader in higher education since 1909, has partnered
with the Cobscook Community Learning Center (CCLC)
to offer its Master of Education degree program in
Creative Arts in Learning to educators in Maine and
New Brunswick.
Lesley University will offer this
33-credit program in Lubec, ME starting Fall, 2003.
All courses will be offered in an intensive weekend
format to accommodate working students. Each three-credit
course requires students attend two weekend-long classes,
with a month between weekends to work on projects
and readings. CCLC personnel will serve as on-site
coordinator and handle registration, order books and
serve as a liaison between the off-campus students
and the main campus located in Cambridge, MA.
The Creative Arts in Learning program
is designed to enhance the individual creativity of
teachers and other professionals seeking to integrate
the arts into many areas of learning. Grounded in
developmental and educational theory and supportive
of the core goals of standards-based curriculum, the
Creative Arts in Learning program supports educators
and administrators in expanding their capacity to
enliven education and expand the spectrum of experiences
for learners of all ages. The program is multicultural
in orientation, and aims to help educators provide
an equitable education for all students at all levels,
using the integrated arts as vehicles for learning.
It is appropriate for teachers of all certification
levels, as well as other professionals who have an
interest in integrated arts curriculum. Four core
courses plus six specialization and one elective course
make up the program. Specializations included music,
drama, poetry, open studio, creative movement and
storytelling.
