Dear Educator, I am writing to introduce you and your students to field trip programs for K-12 groups at the Cobscook Community Learning Center (CCLC). The CCLC campus offers a comfortable place for a diversity of outings. We have a fifty acre campus which abuts several hundred acres of state conservation land. The trails through our sanctuary lands link directly with those of the Inland Fish and Wildlife properties of Dennison and Commissary Points and lead to the tidal waters of East Stream and Whiting Bay. This is an excellent site for science and ecology field studies. CCLC staff members are versed in outdoor, environmental, and experiential education and can facilitate experiences customized for your group in this wonderful outdoor classroom setting. Our indoor facilities include a pottery/arts studio, computer lab, classrooms, kitchen, two central meeting rooms equipped with LCD projectors and large screens, and comfortable tables and chairs all around. On days when the weather permits, the grounds around the building offer excellent picnic opportunities. We have a large fire ring (created by community members during a stone masonry course) for cookouts and storytelling and also have a grill for use by the public. In addition to our field trip offerings, the CCLC is available for use by school groups at any time for a minimal rental fee (work trade opportunities available). The Center is also a site for staff trainings and retreats. Our goal is to provide many ways for you and your students to enjoy learning in an easily accessible, safe and well equipped setting. We look forward to seeing you. |
