Matt Kearns, Director of Project Development for UPC Wind Management, LLC, will speak at the Cobscook Bay Area Chamber of Commerce’s next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, December 12 at 6:30 pm. This program will take place at the Cobscook Community Learning Center, 1.5 miles east of the Whiting Corner off Route 189. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
UPC Wind currently operates the Mars Hill Wind Farm in Mars Hill, Maine and is proposing an additional wind power generation project, the Stetson Wind Farm, in Danforth. In November, the Maine Land Use Regulatory Commission approved UPC Wind’s preliminary plan for the company’s proposed 57 megawatt project in Washington County. The project has also received support from environmental groups such as Maine Audubon, Natural Resource Council, Appalachian Mountain Club and Conservation Law Foundation, as well as the endorsement of the Washington County Commissioners and the Sunrise County Economic Council. According to Mr. Kearns, UPC has a strong desire to invest in Washington County and to work with community members in this project. His talk on December 12 is intended to inform community members about the project, answer questions, and get input from area residents. For more information on the project, visit www.upcwind.com.
