Many, many thanks go to all who helped organize the October 5th fundraising concert, which was held at the Lupine Lodge on Campobello Island. Staff at the Lupine Lodge graciously offered that space, and donated food for the event. Thanks go to the cooks who prepared the spaghetti feast, the wait staff who worked hard all evening bring food and drinks to concert-goers, and especially Mary Helen and Diane of the Lupine Lodge who organized with CCLC staff to make this event happen.
As with all of our benefit concerts, we wouldn't have a concert without the musicians who volunteer their time and talents to help raise needed funds. Our gratitude goes to David Wilder for sharing his beautiful original songs and favorite folk tunes accompanied by his smooth finger-picking guitar style; to the Black Socks String Band (Kara and Alan, who work at the CCLC, are very grateful that band members Jim O'Neil and John Viselli continue to come out for these events and share their musical talents, as well as setting up and operating the sound system); and to Campobello favorites Gary Cook, Graham Cook, and Peter Mabey, who played two sets as a trio, each supporting the others with their lively guitar playing and harmonies.
Additional thanks go to all those who came out for the event and made generous contributions. All in all, we raised over $700 for scholarships to support people from the Cobscook Bay region, and particularly those from Campobello Island, in accessing CCLC courses and programs. We feel fortunate to have the support of community members who come time and time again to enjoy the music, spend a fun evening together, and support the work of the Cobscook Community Learning Center.
