On Wednesday, September 26 @ 7 pm, Stephen Sanfilippo will present an evening of songs and stories to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Unjust Execution of NICOLA SACCO & BARTOLOMEO VANZETTI.

It is widely maintained that the trial, denial of appeal, and executions of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeno Vanzetti is the greatest miscarriage of legal justice in America's history. Set into a period of anti-radical hysteria, nativist xenophobia, and rampant racism, the trial was marred by the extreme prejudices of the judge, prosecutor, jurors, and witnesses against the defendants. Executed, Sacco and Vanzetti have transcended death, living on as martyrs for workers' and immigrants' justice, and radical dissent.

This program is presented by Italian-American Stephen Sanfilippo, who grew up in an family that combined the values of the working class with political radicalism. His views of society and politics, and of the necessity for fighting against injustices, have been strongly influenced from an early age by the story of Nicola Sacco's and Bartolomeo Vanzetti's innocence. Stephen has been performing traditional and topical folk music since the mid-1970s. In addition to his work in historical, educational, and festival concert venues, he has given of his talents to a variety of fund-raising and public awareness programs for environmental, anti-war, and human rights causes.
