Youth and families are organizing a trail fun run and paddle fundraiser on Sunday, September 16, 2007 to support youth ecology, technology and arts education programs at the Cobscook Community Learning Center.
Registration for the 3 mile trail run or the 1.5 mile hike will begin at 8:30 am. (Click here for printable registration form) The run will begin at 10:00 am and the hike will begin shortly thereafter. Both the 3-mile run and the 1.5 mile hike will take place on the East Stream and Dennison Point Trails, which cross through a variety of terrains and forest types. The run will be timed, and those with top times will be recognized. However, no formal prizes for times will be awarded. All participants will be entered in a drawing for door prizes.
Following the fun run, a cookout lunch will be held at the CCLC’s Commons Building. Some dishes and cook-out items will be available, and people are invited to bring a potluck dish to pass.
A guided canoe or kayak paddle of upper Whiting Bay will start at the Little Augusta Boat Ramp on Route 1 beginning at 2 pm. People are welcome to bring their own canoes or kayaks. Life jackets are required for all participants. A limited number of boats will be available to borrow, and those needing to borrow one should call in advance.
A registration donation of $15 for either the run/hike or the paddle is requested, or a donation of $25 for both the trail run and the paddle. Lunch is included with registration.
The CCLC is located at 10 Commissary Point Road, 1.5 miles east of Route 1 off of Route 189. For a registration form or additional information, call or email Kara (733-2233 or kara@thecclc.org).
