Join with musicians Gary Bushee, Arielle Raff, Gene Nichols and Kara McCrimmon in a fun and lively exploration of the "Art of the Folk Song." What other concert could include music from the 1500s to present, with vocal renditions, instrumental selections, and traditional instruments combining to give life to songs that have been heard and sung for hundreds of years across continents?
About the group: This collection of performers, who are dubbing themselves the "Acadian Consort" for this event, originally gathered together in April 2006 to support Gary in completing his senior project as he neared graduation from U-Maine, Machias in interdisciplinary arts. Fiddler/violinist Arielle Raff; Celtic whistler, bodhran player, and sometimes accordionist Kara McCrimmon; and multi-instrumentalist / UMM music professor / snazzy dresser Gene Nichols will back Gary in a reprise of the concert he originally prepared.
The concert will take place at in the CCLC's newest campus building, The Commons, at 7 pm on Saturday June 16. A donation of $5 is suggested.
