CCLC Monthly Meeting

Attending: Jim Miner, Melissa Lee, Julie Keene, Diane MacFeat, Kevin Thompson, Bill Shamel, Rachel Bell, Nick Beal, Tim Beal, Francine Rodman, Brenda Barker, Alan Furth, Dennis Corso, Gary Cook

Welcome and reading of excerpt from Wendell Berry's article.

Time Keeper is a volunteer. Jim Miner

Review of minutes. Gratefully received. Enormous work. Thanks to Diane, Carly, Francine, and Julie for transcribing, editing and formatting the material.

Administrative Coordinator. Brenda is returning to school and will need to relinquish her position as soon as a replacement can be selected. A search committee of Alan, Brenda, Francine and Melissa was selected and given approval to interview and select the replacement. The rate of pay is $12.50 and 16 hours of week are needed per week. The job may be shared as necessary.

Finance Committee. We have secured the services of a R. H. R. Smith, CPA to do the bookkeeping and accounting and auditing for the CCLC. Martha McIntyre has been extremely helpful in making a smooth transition. It is unanimously agreed that Martha McIntyre's name will be removed from the signature list for all of our accounts. It is also agreed that Francine Rodman's name will be added to the signature list for all our accounts.

Building Committee: Jim, Tim, Nick, Rachel gave a report and presented pictures and plans of the revised Timber Frame building. There was a large discussion about what the implications are of working with Federal Funds on this project. Alan will discuss the questions addressed with Milton Ross of Rural Development. The Building Committee will compile a list of materials and services that will be needed to complete the building.

It is proposed that the Cobbies have a work weekend when the snow is out to clean up the site including cutting up the wood into firewood and that we can deliver it to elderly around the bay as part of the process. We will invite the Landscape youth back to help with the weekend. We are expecting to be able to hold this weekend in April.

Web Design Team. Kevin presented a handout outlining what he is seeking for the website committee. Rachel and Diane will edit materials for the website.
Whole website committee includes Kevin, Diane, Rachel and a bit of Francine. $500 was reserved for Kevin as a stipend for his oversight of the web design work.

Business Plan Committee is working to distill the work that has been accomplished over the past year. Bill and Alan are entering this work into the computer during the week of this meeting. We are on schedule for this piece of important work.

Grand Lake Stream Folk Art Festival. GLSFAF. Bill gave an update. It is believed that our insurance company will carry the Festival. Estimates received from Pat Macguire of J. C. Milliken Agency, Inc, are that it may not require any additional money or, it may cost as much as $800.

Cobscook Bay Company. Julie gives update about Gore's work. He has sent a major piece of research with fine details related to every aspect of the work. Julie and Alan are attending an RC&D meeting this Thursday. All Cobbies are welcome. Julie will be serving Chowder for the meeting. It starts at 9:30 and is held at the RC&D office in Cherryfield. Call Alan if you want a ride. 733-2154.
