- Fly Tying

- Description: Join with experienced fly fisherman Blair Tinker for a five-session class on the art of fly tying. The goal of this course is to take someone who has never tied flies before and teach them to tie five basic flies. Each of the flies teaches a different fly tying skill. If you can tie your shoes you can tie flies. This is not a course designed to teach fly tiers to win the Sportsman show but to have fun and learn a new skill you can improve upon.

- Cables: A Knitting Skills Workshop

- When: Saturdays, April 10th and 17th ~ 9 am - noon

- Description: Interested in building on your knitting skills? Join with Jane Cook for two mornings of building on your knitting skills. During this class you'll learn to make a beautiful pair of fingerless wrist warmers that feature a prominent cable pattern. Along the way you'll learn a variety of skills that you can apply to other knitting projects.
- Participants will learn the following skills: Reading pattern charts, cables, thumb gusset, use double pointed needles, twisted ribbing.

- Drawn From Your Hand - An Introduction to Spinning
- Instructor: Beth Roy and Laurie Baird
- When: Saturday, May 1 ~
9 am – Noon
- Registration Deadline: One week prior to start date.
- Description: Join with spinners and fiber artists Beth Roy and Laurie Baird in a fun and interactive workshop to learn the basics of turning raw fleece into finished yarn. You'll be introduced to tools that are used to convert fleece into roving, including hand and drum carders. Much of your time, however, will be spent at a spinning wheel, as Beth and Laurie guide you through the meditative process of spinning wool roving into yarn. "This is such an engaging art form," says spinner Beth Roy. "You get to touch every piece of fiber, and work through each step in the process of converting fleece into a finished garment." "Spinning connects me to the environment, and to humans through the ages," says Laurie Baird. "It was necessary for survival, just like growing and harvesting food. I love it." In this class, you'll have the chance to spin 6 ounces of roving into a ball of yarn perfect for a special project. No experience necessary. This class is limited to 6 participants, so please sign up early

- Beginning Knitting

- Description:
Making fabric from yarn is a craft that people have been practicing for centuries. It’s relaxing. It’s creative. It’s something that anyone can learn, and this session will get you started in this fun and practical craft. In this workshop you'll learn everything you need to know to get into knitting - how to cast on stitches; how to knit, purl, increase, decrease, and more. Practice all of these skills while making a dish cloth sampler. Yarn will be provided. Participants will need #6 straight needles for this class. A few sets will be available to borrow. Please call ahead to reserve one of these sets

- Knitting Circle: an ongoing gathering for fiber artists of all sorts

- When: Wednesdays 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
- Cost: No charge, donations are always welcome

- Registration: No registration necessary, come as often as you like.
- Description: Join with other fiber enthusiasts once a week to knit, crochet, spin, hook, embroider, or work on any other portable fiber project. We offer assistance, instruction, inspiration, conversation and community. Beginners are welcome. Don't know how to knit? We'll get you started. Bring a project and a lunch. Questions?
