  • Maine Expedition - A 15 Day Backcountry Adventure for Youths 11-15 Maine Youth Expedition
    • Instructor: Kara McCrimmon and Kelly Bryand
    • When: Session 1:  July 9 - 23, 2008

    • Description: Climb a mountain.  Canoe a twenty-mile long lake.  Carry everything you need on your back.  Feel tired and totally exhilarated after a full day on the trail.  Gaze at the stars each night.  Go somewhere you’ve never been before.  And, do all this with a group of friends who are on the same amazing adventure — and be totally excited about it!   • Mowing with the European Scythe
    • Instructor: Richard Scott and the Staff of Scythe SupplyMowing With the European Scythe
    • When: Friday, June 13 from 5:30 pm – 8 pm and Saturday, June 14 from 7 am - noon
    • Cost: 0 - $50 - $70; Course fees are based on a sliding scale, click here for more info.
    • Materials: Will be provided by Scythe Supply. 
    • Registration Deadline: One week prior to start date.  This registration deadline is firm, so that there’s enough time to prepare needed materials.
    • Description: What is a scythe?  How is it used and how is it used, sharpened and repaired?  How can you benefit from this fossil-fuel free way to mow a yard or field? Join the staff of Scythe  Supply to learn this and more.   Scythe Supply is staffed by scythe enthusiasts who want others to discover the rewards of using this elegant, human-powered tool.  Light, sharp and effective, the scythe will mow, clear and harvest with ease—while you stand comfortably upright.  Scythe Supply will loan equipment for people to use during this workshop.  This is a great opportunity for people to get hands-on experience sharpening and mowing with this traditional tool.
