Welcome to the Community Pottery Studio! Through the generous support of area businesses, including Bar Harbor Bank and Trust and Machias Savings Bank, the Center has a fully outfitted pottery studio. The pottery studio is part of the CCLC’s commitment to create opportunities for people to gain access to hands-on arts and other learning opportunities that are not readily available in this region. This is the first CCLC art studio that is up and running and we hope you and your family will come use it. Experiences in the pottery studio are enduring: both the memories and the pottery will last a lifetime.
When no pottery classes are in session, the pottery studio is available for open studio time. Those who have taken a pottery course at the CCLC, as well as those who have some pottery experience and participate in a short orientation session with a CCLC staff member or pottery studio volunteer, are welcome to use this space. Please click here to read the guidelines for pottery studio use.
About the CCLC’s resident potter: Kevin Thompson, who also works as the CCLC’s Director of Office Systems, apprenticed for a local potter for five years, then developed his own line of functional and raku pottery. Owner of Northwind Pottery, Kev has taught pottery in local after school programs and currently facilitates ceramics courses at the Center and runs pottery field trips for local schools. Kev was recently featured in the book Bonsai Potters by Daan Giphart and Levon Arzooyan.

work to fill it efficiently. Special or dedicated firings are
possible at an additional charge. Please inquire with the potter.

for projects in progress. You are responsible for covering and
storing your work securely. The CCLC is not responsible for any
damage to your work or belongings.

agreeing not to hold the CCLC or the studio potter responsible
for any injury or health complications sustained while working

through Friday as well as some weekends and evenings. Please call
